“I really enjoyed taking part in the Bikeathon. What made the experience so enjoyable was the incredible level of support provided by both the organisers, the supporters and the other riders. Everyone was encouraging and helpful, and it made the entire day a joy.”
About the event
The Wirral Bikeathon is a cycling event for all the family, giving everyone the opportunity to have a fun day out enjoying some healthy exercise whilst raising money through sponsorship to support UTS Live Well Foundation (Hoylake).
We would love to have you join us on Sunday 21st May 2023. We are looking for riders (from ages 8 to 80, all welcome!), volunteers and supporters. Check back here soon for more information including all the details you need to take part.

How to take part
We are looking for riders from ages 8 to 80, all welcome! We want to see as many people as possible taking part in the Bikeathon. It’s a great way to improve your fitness at the same time as supporting a worthy local charity.
However, if you’re unable to cycle, you can still take part as a volunteer to help the day run smoothly – you can be a marshal, pit stop attendant, or a cheerleader. We would love to see you there.
The Route
The Wirral Bikeathon route is split into two sections, 13 miles and 26 miles. The 13-mile section is ideal for novices and families, taking you on a tour of Wirral’s stunning coastline and countryside. The 26-mile section is more challenging and is perfect for experienced riders who want to get a good workout. Both sections are well-marked, making them easy to follow.
“Great first time for a 73 year old, the event was so well organised with great child family friendly atmosphere. Discovered off-road parts of Wirral never seen before, coffee stop along Meols parade. Don’t be afraid to ask family, friends & colleagues for sponsorship every £ helps, I managed to raise over £200. Go on, give it a go, even if you only complete half the circuit.”
“What a fun day. I was so glad I made it all the way around the route, thanks to the all the encouragement and support I received. I feel taking part has really boosted my health and fitness levels – and we’ve supported a really worthwhile local charity at the same time. It couldn’t be better!”

About the UTS Live Well Foundation
‘giving life to those who live’
Founded in 2014, the UTS Live Well Foundation has always worked towards achieving one primary aim: To support all of those effected by cancer in the local area, by enhancing their treatment pathway and enabling optimal recovery once medical treatment has been completed.
How they do it:
– 1-2-1 delivery for Wirral people living with cancer.
– Provide small and large group support sessions.
– Help to create a pathway for exercise, health, and fitness.
– Encouraging and supporting people to look at other aspects of their wellbeing.
Funds are also used to host workshops centred around other aspects of wellbeing focused on nutrition, mental health, physical activity – and to support essential research to better understand how exercise can be employed as a treatment and recovery pathway.
A huge THANK YOU to all our partners
